Under the condition of anonymity, two former heads of the Election Commission (EC) asserted that such actions might be seen as meddling in free and fair elections. Because of this, the poll watchdog should meet with the agencies to determine why tax demands and I-T notices need to be sent out before the elections are over.
According to the former CEC, the ED’s practice of calling leaders for questioning when they ought to be participating in campaigns also taints the playing field. “If it does not involve national security, then can the I-T Department and ED not wait for two more months,” the former CEC stated. “The Commission cannot get in the way of matters of national security.”
Rahul Gandhi’s accusation on Match-Fixing
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi recently pointed fingers at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging a form of “match-fixing.” According to Gandhi, the government is manipulating the electoral process by leveraging these agencies against opposition parties.
