On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Vande Bharat trains and a series of significant railway projects in Uttar Pradesh, marking a notable stride in the state’s transportation infrastructure. Among the highlights were the virtual inauguration of three new Vande Bharat trains, which are high-speed express trains known for their modern amenities and rapid connectivity. The first of the new Vande Bharat trains will ply between Varanasi and Ranchi, facilitating swift and comfortable travel between these two important cities. Additionally, the route of the Gorakhpur-Lucknow Vande Bharat service has been extended to Prayagraj, further expanding its reach and utility for passengers.
Alongside the introduction of these new trains, Prime Minister Modi also laid the foundation stone for 32 railway projects in the Lucknow division of Northern Railways. These projects encompass a range of developments aimed at bolstering railway infrastructure in the region. Among them are the doubling of three railway lines, a significant step towards enhancing capacity and reducing congestion on key routes.
Furthermore, the inauguration of rail coach restaurants at prominent stations such as Charbagh and Gomti Nagar in Lucknow adds a touch of convenience and comfort for passengers, offering them a variety of dining options while they wait for their trains. These initiatives not only enhance the travel experience but also contribute to the overall modernization of railway facilities in the state.
One particularly noteworthy aspect of the inauguration was the establishment of ‘one station one product’ stalls at various stations, including Gomti Nagar. These stalls aim to promote local craftsmanship and products, providing a platform for artisans to showcase their goods to a wider audience of travelers and visitors.
In addition to these developments, the PM flagged off a total of 10 Vande Bharat trains on the day, symbolizing a significant expansion of high-speed rail services in the region. Among these trains were services connecting the state capital to key destinations such as Patna and Dehradun, further strengthening connectivity and facilitating easier travel for passengers.
The inauguration ceremonies at Lucknow stations were attended by dignitaries and officials, who witnessed the PM’s address and the unveiling of various railway projects via screens set up at the venues.
