A 25-year-old police constable in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, reportedly shot himself in the head, suspected to be due to family issues. Arun Yadav, hailing from Amroha district, had been on duty at the Gularia Gauri Shankar Temple in the Sirauli area until evening. Upon returning to his quarters, he allegedly turned off his mobile phone and inflicted the gunshot wound. Police and locals rushed to Yadav’s room upon hearing the gunshot, finding him injured. He was initially taken to a nearby hospital and later transferred to the district hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
No suicide note was found at the scene. Superintendent of Police (Rural) Manush Pareek, along with other officials, initiated an investigation into the incident. They examined Yadav’s mobile phone and interviewed his colleagues to determine potential motives behind the suspected suicide, with authorities suspecting family reasons.
Efforts are ongoing to ascertain the exact reasons behind Yadav’s tragic decision, with his family contacted and his call details being examined. Additionally, in a separate incident, the father of one of two girls who were gang-raped and found dead in a brick kiln allegedly died by suicide in Hamirpur district, Uttar Pradesh. The 45-year-old man was reportedly facing pressure to withdraw the complaint in the gang rape case and had been receiving threats from the family of the accused.
