India will play a five-match Test series – Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia later this year. India are eyeing a hattrick of series wins in Australia, however, beating Australia won’t be easy this time. India would have to make smart picks during squad selection to Test Australia. Let us look at India’s strongest XI that can beat Australia in Australia.

India will eye a hattrick of series wins when they tour Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in November. India stunned the hosts on the previous two tours and now have a rare opportunity to complete a triple of consecutive series wins in Australia. India will have a slight edge heading into the series given that Australia have not beaten India in a Test series since 2014-15, however, the Aussies are like wounded lions and would come hard at the Rohit Sharma-led side.
The series is still a fair way away and India will play a two-match test series against Bangladesh and three Tests against New Zealand before the Australia tour. India are unlikely to tinker a lot in their squad unless a player picked in the previous series goes horribly out of form or gets injured.

India would need the resilience of Cheteshwar Pujara on the Australia tour. Even though he is unlikely to get picked in the Bangladesh or New Zealand series, he might make a surprise appearance on the Australian tour. This will be rare but given that he was the cornerstone of India’s previous series wins in Australia, India could take a bet on him.
Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant, and Jasprit Bumrah are certain to board the flight to Australia. India can be in a dilemma regarding the spinners. R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja for long have been India’s lead spinners but Axar could challenge Jadeja’s place while Kuldeep Yadav could be picked over Ashwin given the left-arm variation he brings to the table. Ashwin could find a place in the squad but getting a slot in XI should be tough. Bumrah and Siraj are certain to feature while Shami should also get fit before the series, and India would dearly want him in the squad. Someone like Mayank Yadav or Harshit Rana could be backup pacers.
