UPSC prelims 2024 postponed
The Union Public Service Commission has rescheduled the UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2024, originally planned for May 26, to June 16. This decision was prompted by the Election Commission’s announcement of the 18th Lok Sabha elections from April 19 to June 1, 2024. The preliminary exam, serving as a screening test for the Indian Forest Service Examination 2024, will now take place on the revised date.
The exam will consist of two shifts: General Studies and Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT), with the GS paper scheduled for the morning session from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM and the afternoon session from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM. The registration deadline for the UPSC IAS exam 2024 was extended to March 6, with a correction window open from March 7 to March 13. Admit cards for the prelims will be released at least 10 days before the exam on the official website.
There are 1,056 vacancies for the CSE exam and 150 for the Indian Forest Service (IFoS) this year. The CSE assessment comprises prelims, mains, and a personality test, with the prelims featuring objective-type questions. Candidates meeting the age criteria—between 21 and 32 years old as of August 1, 2024—are eligible to apply. The Main exams are scheduled from September 20 for five days.
