Rahul Gandhi to Visit Hathras, Meet Kin of Victims, Says K C Venugopal

In the aftermath of the tragic stampede incident in Hathras, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has announced his visit to the affected area. The incident, which claimed 121 lives and left several others injured, occurred during a ā€˜satsang’ (religious congregation) in Sikandara Rao. Rahul Gandhi’s visit aims to express solidarity with the victims’ families and understand the impact of this unfortunate event.

"The incident in Hathras is sad. Rahul Gandhi will soon visit Hathras and meet the victim's family," Venugopal said

Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal confirmed Rahul Gandhi’s plans, stating, ā€œIt was an unfortunate incident. The leader of the opposition in Lok Sabha (Rahul Gandhi) is planning to visit Hathras. He will go there and interact with the people who are affected.ā€

Meanwhile, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also visited Hathras on Wednesday.Ā He interacted with the injured persons in the hospital and took first-hand information about the circumstances leading to the tragedy.

Rahul Gandhi’s visit aims to provide solace and support to those affected by this tragedy.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered a judicial probe into the stampede, led by retired High Court judge Brijesh Kumar Srivastava and two other retired IAS officers, Hemant Rao and Bhavesh Kumar Singh. While police have filed an FIR against the organizers, including charges related to culpable homicide, wrongful restraint, and disappearance of evidence, the self-styled religious preacher Narayan Sakar Vishwa Hari (also known as ā€˜Bhole Baba’) has not been named in the case.

ā€˜Bhole Baba,’ who hosted the satsang, was arrested in 2000 for claiming ā€œmagical powersā€ and forcibly taking the body of a 16-year-old girl from her family, promising to bring her back to life.
