JAMSHEDPUR – The Karam Festival, organized by Kudmi Sena at Gopal Maidan in Bistupur, celebrated nature worship and environmental conservation. Bihar’s Rural Development Minister Shravan Kumar graced the occasion as the chief guest.
Bihar’s cabinet minister Shrawan Kumar said he had been coming to Gopal Maidan in Jamshedpur (Jharkhand) for many years on the auspicious occasion of Karam Puja.
“I express my gratitude to the brothers and sisters of Jharkhand for giving me the opportunity to participate in this sacred Karam Puja. This worship is the worship of nature, today the whole world needs nature, because the whole world is troubled by climate change today.
Our ancestors of Jharkhand were so aware, how great scientists they were. They had an idea that in the coming days, not only India, not only Jharkhand, but the whole world will need to preserve the forests, mountains, trees and plants given by nature,” he said.

He said today major diseases were being born due to climate change. “To prevent this, the government is working by making big plans. In the states where the green cover is less, trees are being planted to increase greenery and water sources are being improved. Forests and mountains are being protected and efforts are being made in 33% of the states on greenery.
Climate change is causing more damage in the states where the green cover is less. The damage of climate is not only on humans but trees, plants, crops, animals, birds and living creatures on earth, all are becoming its victims,” he said.
He thanked Jharkhand’s Kurmi Sena President Shailendra Mahato on this occasion and his entire team.
“The Kurmi community of Orissa, Bengal and Jharkhand should be included in the Scheduled Castes and Tribes. Because their food habits, lifestyle, civilization, culture etc. are all similar, yet the government is ignoring their rights, everyone should think about this,” he said.
