In a joint drugs bust operation conducted by the Telangana Anti Narcotics Bureau and the Gachibowli police, four individuals were apprehended at their residence in Serilingampally, Hyderabad, for their involvement in drug trafficking. The operation resulted in the seizure of a significant quantity of cannabis, weighing 22.6 kilograms, along with proceeds from drug sales amounting to 22 lakh rupees.

The arrested individuals were identified as Kalapathi Nithubai, her son Kalapati Munnu Singh, and two close family members, Kalapathi Surekha and Kalapathi Mamatha. However, two other associates implicated in the case, Anguri Bai and Neha Bai, managed to evade arrest. Additionally, during the operation, law enforcement officials detained 13 consumers who were allegedly involved in purchasing drugs from the accused.

According to the investigation, the arrested individuals were allegedly part of a drug distribution network that supplied cannabis to consumers not only in Hyderabad but also in Cyberabad and neighboring districts. The modus operandi involved procuring cannabis in bulk quantities, with each kilogram costing 8,000 rupees, from Anguri Bai, a supplier based in Dhoolpet. The drugs were then divided into sachets weighing five grams each and sold at prices reaching up to 5,000 rupees per sachet.

Authorities revealed that Kalapathi Nithubai had a lengthy history of involvement in drug-related offenses, with records indicating her participation in 19 previous cases of drug peddling. In 2021, she was detained under the Prevention of Dangerous Activities Act (PD Act) for her involvement in drug trafficking and was subsequently released from custody in October 2022. Furthermore, in August 2023, Nithubai, along with accomplices Gowtham Singh and Neha Bai, was apprehended by Golconda police. As a result of this arrest, authorities were able to seize 16 bank accounts associated with the accused, containing deposits totaling 1.53 crore rupees.

The successful operation marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to combat the illicit drug trade in the region. Authorities have emphasized their commitment to cracking down on drug-related activities and apprehending individuals involved in such criminal enterprises to maintain law and order and ensure the safety and well-being of the community.
