Bihar’s cabinet Minister, Rural Development Department, Shravan Kumar inaugurated the Employment-cum-Guidance Fair organized in the premises of Government Middle School, Sai under Dhanrua Block of Patna District by lighting the lamp.
On this occasion, Jeevika Didi welcomed the guests by singing the welcome song. This employment-cum-guidance fair has been organized by Bihar Rural Livelihood Promotion Committee (Jeevika) under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana with a view to providing employment and self-employment related training opportunities to the rural youth.
On this occasion, Shravan Kumar, while addressing the people present, said that if we have to stand at the global level and for this we need to work hard as well as develop a competitive mindset. “This job fair is an important step in that direction,” he said.
The minister said that today development was being done by Jeevika’s sisters through Jeevika Self Help Groups, while through Rozgar cum Marg darshan Mela, the children of the sisters are moving on the path of progress by getting employment and training. “The rural women who used to worry about their daily bread yesterday, today are getting financially prosperous as well as respect and their rights at the social level. Today, through the Sustainable Livelihood Scheme, financial assistance of up to 2 lakhs is being provided to extremely poor families. Along with this, they are also being made technically capable so that they can move forward by developing gradually out of the clutches of poverty. Jeevika is providing a means to progress to rural women through Self Help Groups today,” the minister said.
Shravan Kumar said that today we are trying to bring half of the population i.e. women at par with everyone in the society through Jeevika. “Continuous efforts are being made under the leadership of Honorable Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar to take them forward. Just as the sun gives light equally to everyone irrespective of caste, similarly, through Jeevika, everyone is being given an opportunity to move forward equally by forming community organizations,” he said.
During the programme, Shravan Kumar handed over the offer letters from the stage to 18 youth selected for employment in various companies. On this occasion, District Project Manager, Jeevika, Patna, Mukesh Kumar Sasmal said that Jeevika is working even in those areas of Bihar which are difficult to reach. He said the aim was to take the welfare schemes of the government to remote villages. He expressed happiness and said that an employment fair has been organized in Dhanrua block.
“This will provide employment opportunities to rural youth in various companies through the employment fair. The youth will move forward by taking advantage of this,” he said. The official said that the government had to provide employment opportunities to as many youth as possible. ‘We have to make women self-reliant. Employment opportunities are being provided to the youth by organizing employment fairs in different blocks by Jeevika Patna. It is a matter of great happiness that employment fairs are being organized even in rural areas away from the city,” he said.
Bihar Legislative Council member Ravindra Singh while addressing the people said that this was a good opportunity for the youths. ‘The youths of Dhanrua block and nearby areas will be benefited from this employment fair. All of you should take maximum benefit from this,” Singh said.
There was a crowd of people at the job fair throughout the day. Rural youths started getting themselves registered from the morning itself. A large number of people went to various counters to seek information regarding employment. Today at the registration-cum-counselling centre of the job fair, 567 youths got themselves registered for employment. In this fair, 97 youths were directly selected for employment as per the qualifications of the candidates. 78 rural youths got themselves registered for free residential training under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana. 146 youths also got themselves registered for self-employment at the Rural Self-Employment Training Institute.
It is worth mentioning that earlier an employment-cum-guidance fair was organized in Vikram block. Through Jeevika, the youth were given information about employment opportunities in companies as well as about self-employment. Youth from nearby blocks also participated in this employment fair.
Manager Employment Arun Kumar gave a vote of thanks from the stage and gave information about DDU-GKY and employment opportunities. He said that our effort is to provide employment to as many youth as possible. In future also, we will keep trying to connect people with employment opportunities from every level.
Companies like Zomato, Youth for Jobs, Ecom Express, Vision India, Swift Textiles, Technoserve, Nirmala Job Employment Agency etc. participated in the job fair and provided jobs to the young men and women as per their qualifications and choice.
In the said program, along with the Minister, Bihar Legislative Council Member Ravinder Prasad Singh, former Legislative Council Member Balmiki Singh, former Chairman of Bihar Backward Class Commission Dr. Naveen Arya, former District Council Chairman, Nutan Paswan, JDU District President, Patna, Ashok Singh, Dhanrua JDU Block President Ved Prakash, and several others were present.
