Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday attacked Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath over his remark that the Samajwadi Party chief was a “leader of goons”.
“Meri bhi tasveer dekhlo aap aur unki bhi dekhlo, maafia kon lagega yeh bata do (You can see my picture and his too, tell me who would be considered a mafia),” said the SP chief.

Earlier, slamming Akhilesh over dynastic politics, CM Yogi said political power can be inherited but wisdom cannot. According to the CM Adityanath, during the SP’s rule, criminal elements ran parallel governments and law enforcement was under their control. ”Those who used to consider power as their ‘bapauti’ (family property) have started realising that they will never return to Uttar Pradesh, that is why they are trying to conspire. They (SP) are trying to create anarchy. They have nothing to do with development and the safety of daughters and businessmen,” said the CM. The CM on Sunday was addressing a gathering after inaugurating and laying the foundation stone of 6,778 development projects worth Rs 1,231 crore in Katehari.
The SP chief also clarified that he never referred to CM Yogi in his “mafia and head of math are the same” remark. “Here the statements of the Chief Minister and the Mahant are coming in a different way. SP and especially I have never said anything about any saint, any of our Mahant, any Sanyasi. If they feel that the word is such that it is being interpreted in a certain way, then we will say that he is not our Chief Minister, he is a ‘Mathadhish CM’…” said the SP chief.
The CM also hit back at Yadav’s statement on Mafia. He said that SP people used to rub their noses in front of mafia and criminals. According to their culture, they call religious leaders mafia. He clearly said that the spirit of Aurangzeb had truly entered inside him.
